FITUR 2026 closes: international participation grows, and the show keeps evolving into a business platform

FITUR 2026 has closed in Madrid with figures that reinforce its role as a global platform for tourism business—where destinations, brands and institutions use one concentrated week to accelerate partnerships, positioning and international visibility. According to IFEMA MADRID, the fair slightly surpassed 255,000 visitors over five days. Professional attendance reached 155,000, with a 12% increase in international professional visitors, in line with an 11% rise in international exhibitors. Participation included 10,000+ companies from 161 countries, with 111 countries officially represented and 967 main exhibitors.

What’s most relevant for international exhibitors

Beyond the size of the event, FITUR continues to evolve into a format that blends exhibition space with high-volume business activity and content. IFEMA highlights the growth of its Knowledge Hub, featuring eight auditoriums, ten conference programmes, 200+ sessions and 250+ speakers – a signal that exhibitors increasingly compete not only on footprint, but also on narrative and relevance.

Three quiet signals worth noting

  • International attention is rising: when international professional attendance grows, the fair becomes even more “meeting-driven.” Stands that work well are designed as practical business bases, not just display spaces.
  • Clarity beats complexity: in a hall full of countries and destinations, the stands that win time are the ones that communicate a simple promise quickly – then guide visitors smoothly into conversation areas.
  • Content is part of the ROI: more exhibitors build camera-friendly corners (lighting, screens, clean backdrops) so the stand performs beyond IFEMA – across press, social and B2B outreach.

We’ve compiled a short selection of on-site videos to show different stand approaches at FITUR—from visibility and visitor flow to immersive experiences and meeting areas.

A practical take for stand planning

If your objective is international positioning and qualified conversations, stand investment tends to pay off when it focuses on:
  • Message clarity at distance (one simple story + strong identity)
  • Visitor flow (where people stop, where they engage, where they meet)
  • Meeting comfort (acoustics, seating, lighting, power and discreet storage)
  • Finish quality that reinforces trust and brand level
  • An experience element that supports your story (often screens / immersive content)

Looking ahead: FITUR 2027 Partner Country

IFEMA has already announced Puerto Rico as the Partner Country for FITUR 2027, a reminder that the most strategic exhibitors start planning early – especially when international visibility is the goal.
